Chris Spelius is the founder of Expediciones Chile and your host. He was a pioneer on the Futaleufu River and a 1984 US Olympic team kayaker. He was so was awed by its beauty, challenge and playfulness he decided he would live here in Patagonia, Chile. Thus this company was born. Expediciones Chile was one of the first to run whitewater kayak and multisport adventure trips in the Futaleufu Valley. In 1986 Chris pioneered kayaking on the Futaleufu River and then co-led the first two successful raft descents in 1991. Expediciones Chile has been running safe trips ever since. Chris is now a longstanding resident of Chile , and is married with a young daughter. This company and the concept of blending the best of diverse cultures working and playing together in this unspoiled corner of the world has been his dream.
